The Ford Plantation Amenities
Private Pete Dye Golf Course
The legendary Pete Dye was given an unlimited budget and a free hand to design this championship golf course in the mid-1980's. The front nine is designed around 250 acres of freshwater lakes. The back nine is an exquisite Scottish-links style design created on a bluff that juts out into Lake Clara within one of the original plantation rice fields.
His design is a seen as a tough but fair test of golf and Pete Dye is quoted as saying, "This is arguably my
finest Southern design."
There are no tee times required. Whether you are a seasoned low handicapper and want to take on the course from the back tees (7105yards) or a new high handicapper and want to enjoy the front tees (5539 yards), you can play at your own pace while you take in spectacular vistas of this golf course.
Equestrian Center and Trails
Be it pony rides for the children or more advanced pursuits that you are interested in, The Ford Plantation caters to even the most discerning enthusiast. The herd at The Ford Plantation is a mixture of privately-owned and plantation-owned horses. The breeds and disciplines of horses vary quite widely. Some horses are boarded at the plantation barn and some owners choose to have their horses in their own back yard with their private barns. The Ford Plantation Barn has 22 modern climate-controlled stalls and offers a full a-la-carte menu of services from basic turnout to tacking and even tack cleaning services. There is a gorgeous dressage arena located at the bard and a separate arena for show jumping at The Main House. You can enjoy 14 miles of groomed trails wandering along the Ogeechee River on one end of the community or explore a Georgia pine forest on the other end of the plantation. The variety of activities and equestrian amenities is truly world class.
Dinning
The Ford Plantation is well aware that people come to Savannah with high culinary expectations and the expert staff caters accordingly. One of the most appreciated features of dining at The Ford Plantation is not simply the culinary quality and creativity but the variety. The food and beverage team works hard to keep it interesting and they have a beautiful buffet of venues to choose from: the elegant Clubhouse, the casual poolside grill at Lake Dye, family style meals at The Main House, Oyster Roasts at The Oyster House or outdoor dining at The Ogeechee Outfitters Clubhouse... the bottom line is that you are not likely to get bored.

At the marina, you will also enjoy the convenience of the Ogeechee Outfitters store for vital supplies or just a great place to hang out after a day on the water while exchanging hard luck stories about the one that got away...or not. If you do not have your own boat, no problem. The Ford Plantation maintains a small but diverse fleet of boats which are available to the members for a nominal cost.
Fishing
Redfish...blue crab...flounder...Georgia shrimp...sea trout...striped bass...crappie...bluegill…all are abundant in this remarkable unspoiled tidal waterway: the mighty OgeecheeRiver!
